In early 2000, about 3 brothers and sisters (Johnny Wong, Ann Hung, Ivan Yeung), who went to student fellowship (ACCCF) then graduated and working, they realized that the original student fellowship could not help them grow spiritually anymore. They also met many new friends who speak Cantonese and working in the industry. They would love to spread the Gospel to these friends and bring them to fellowship; however, the atmosphere in student fellowship couldn't attract these young professionals. Other Cantonese fellowship we have here like the Cantonese Family Fellowship, or the Forever Green Fellowship (for elders) would not fit our needs either.
Austin Chinese Church (the mother church) also saw the needs of this group of young professionals, so the deacons of the church had meetings March, 2000, with these brothers and sisters to discuss about building a Cantonese Career Fellowship. After 3 months of prayer, the original 3 brothers and sisters from student fellowship among other brothers and sisters (May Szeto, Martin Lau, Kevin Huang, Faith So, Janet Yiu, Jennie Lee, Stephen Chan, and Sandy Chung) who couldn't find a suitable fellowship came together and formed an "informal" Cantonese career fellowship in August 2000. Meeting every Tuesday with an average attendent of 8, these brothers and sisters prayed, praised, and shared together. After 5 more months of prayers and discussion, a vision came up, a fellowship name came up, a mission statement came up.
In January 2001, the ArkCCF was officially borned, with a group of 12+ dedicated Christians, who are trying our best to know God more and serve God more. Official co-workers were also elected in January 2001. With counselor Alex Chang, Ark Captain Johnny Wong, Program Coordinator Ann Hung, Prayer Coordinator Martin Lau, Bible Study Coordinator Jennie Lee, 2 Small Group Leaders Ivan Yeung and Kevin Huang. Formal program schedule were planned with 2 bible studies per month, one prayer meeting every quarter, one workshop with guest speaker per month, one outreach program (picnic, BBQ, boating, game night, social work, etc.) per month, and a bianual retreat.
